Our Homeschool Week

Our house has been struck with the plague, at least it feels that way. I guess I am lucky that because of homeschooling we can just focus on getting better instead of how behind we are getting. We are all in my room, in our pj’s, watching mindless TV and coughing up a storm.

Before the sickness we had a pretty fun week. My twins did their first ski lessons and by the end of the day I had a hard time keeping up to them. One of them wasn’t that interested in skiing so I was okay with hanging in the lodge with her and was glad I’d have that one person in my family who actually doesn’t enjoy skiing like the rest of them. I had visions of her and I sitting in the lodge, playing cards and drinking hot chocolate while the rest of them went out into the cold and “enjoyed” their activities. Of course it didn’t take long for the other twin to come in an brag about how much fun it is and that she didn’t think her sister could do it as she’d be to scared of the “deep hill” just so the one who didn’t want to to it looks at me and says ” get my boots, we are going skiing.” And yup, she killed it. Went fast down that hill then ever so I guess I am going to have to start enjoying the sport.

My oldest daughter and son decided to take voice lessons and are loving their teacher and what they are learning. She has turned her room into a bit of a music studio and was happy when the neighbour offered us a free piano so she could put the electric one in her room to practise. I love how musical these kids are and thank my relatives for their musical abilities cause it sure didn’t come from my husband or I. The Ipad is busy playing Maroon 5, Adele and Katy Perry these days and the dancing and singing in the house is quite contagious. Much like our flu.

Cake decorating is still a big hit here. The twins are finishing up their course at Michaels and are busy practicing away and talking about how they are going to sell cupcakes for a living. Who knew 7 year olds could learn how to make flowers out of icing and make it look so easy.

Yesterday they had a friend over and spent the day measuring each other up and designing dresses. I feel bad as they wanted to sew but I am no sewer but that didn’t stop them. They may have had some moments where they sewed their pants to themselves but at least they tried and by the end knew how to thread the needle and make a line across. All I learned is how much I don’t know. I swear these kids teach me more than I teach them!

So the res of the week is going to be us recovering from the flu. Being sick sucks but at least doing it together makes everything better.
